3 NY Giants winners and 2 losers from Week 9 debacle against Washington
By Doug Rush
Loser: Brian Daboll
While John Mara has given his vote of confidence in his head coach, it doesn’t exempt him if he makes mistakes coaching.
Daboll decided to opt for analytics over common sense in coaching when he not only went for a two-point conversion once and failed, but did so again.
Ultimately, the two-point tries weren’t as much of a factor, although the game would have been 27-24, or maybe even 27-23 and still manageable, but the Giants' defense couldn’t make key stops on third down and allowed the Commanders to March down the field at will.
Simply put, Daboll was out-coached and really out-prepared by Dan Quinn, who has the Commanders soaring right now at the top of the NFC East. Meanwhile, there are still a lot of Giants fans out there who are calling for Daboll’s job, even if the owner of the Giants has every intention of bringing him back for the 2025 season.
