4 NY Giants on the trade block with the season feeling lost
By Doug Rush
3. Jalin Hyatt
Who would have ever thought that Jalin Hyatt would have just one catch entering the mid-part of the 2024 season? Yet, he does. After a rookie season that saw Hyatt haul in 23 catches for 373 yards and have some big plays on the field, Hyatt has been virtually a non-factor for the Giants in 2024, as he has one catch for six yards.
These are not numbers for a speedster many thought would at least be the No. 2 receiver for the Giants heading into the 2024 season. Now, though, it's looking like Hyatt's future may be with a different team.
Hyatt doesn’t exactly scream trade candidate considering he’s only in his second season and is on an extremely affordable rookie contract. Unlike when the Giants traded off Kadarius Toney in his second season, Hyatt has been healthy enough to be on the field, and hasn’t come off as a problem player to deal with either. Hyatt at least was healthy before leaving the game on Sunday against the Eagles.
However, with teams like the San Francisco 49ers, who lost Brandon Aiyuk to a torn ACL, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who lost Chris Godwin to an ankle injury, in need of help, Hyatt suddenly becomes an option if a team thinks they can get better use out of him than the G-Men. Of course, the Giants could choose to hang onto Hyatt and see if he does better with another quarterback. However, if a team dealing with injuries to a receiver sees potential in Hyatt and offers the Giants a pick that they can’t refuse, then Hyatt has to be someone the Giants consider dealing.
