2. Darius Slayton

We already mentioned one wide receiver as a potential trade chip for the Giants. We have another one in mind, although this one is one who makes the most sense: Darius Slayton. Could we see the veteran leave town soon?

Slayton, unlike Hyatt, has been productive on the field as the Giants second leading receiver on the team with 25 catches for 312 yards and one touchdown in 2024. Slayton also has an expiring contract and there’s a chance that he could be dealt before next month’s deadline.

Teams like the 49ers and Buccaneers, and especially the Kansas City Chiefs, who lost Rashee Rice earlier in the season to injury, could be in the trade market after watching the New York Jets get Davante Adams and the Buffalo Bills land Amari Cooper earlier in the month.

Slayton initially didn’t report to the Giants offseason programs because of his desire to get a new contract, something he didn’t secure. Slayton had incentives added into his current deal, which led to him reporting to the team. With Slayton not getting a new deal from the Giants and playing on his current/expiring one, it makes too much sense to deal him to a contender that can use his talents and abilities for the rest of 2024.

Coming up next: a former first-round pick.
