1. Evan Neal

This is a question some have asked. Why would the Giants trade Evan Neal when he’s still on a rookie contract? For one, the rookie contract makes him affordable to trade away, as he’s in the third year of it. It’s highly unlikely his fifth-year option gets picked up by the Giants, or anyone else for that matter, so he’ll be headed to free agency after 2025 if everything remains the same.

Neal has essentially been buried deep on the Giants bench and there doesn’t appear to be any signs of him playing, as he’s only considered for right tackle and not in any consideration for Andrew Thomas’ left tackle spot. With Jermaine Eluemunor the clear starter at right tackle, Neal has no path to play.

Neal also takes up one of the 53-man roster spots for the Giants, and he’s basically wasting away sitting on the sidelines each week while doing so. So, why not trade him to a team that could use help on their offensive line and might have a place for him to play?

Yes, Neal was once a left tackle in college at Alabama, but the Giants don’t see him as one. Nor do they see him as a current starter at right tackle - another team might. Even if the Giants get a conditional pick for Neal, it might be time for NY and Schoen to admit that Neal hasn’t worked out like they hoped and move on from him.
