4 NY Giants who deserve to be in the NFL award conversations
Defensive Player of the Year- NT Dexter Lawrence
You could make the argument that not only is Dexter Lawrence the best defensive player in football, but the best player in football period. Lawrence has six sacks (which is just a half a sack off the league lead), 16 tackles, four tackles for loss, 10 QB hits and 13 pressures. What does all that mean?
It means Lawrence is on pace for 20.5 sacks, 55 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 78 pressures this season. Will all that actually happen? Probably not, but that doesn't take away from the epic play we are seeing from the nose tackle. Lawrence truly asserted himself against the Seahawks - he had three sacks, including a game-sealing one in the fourth quarter.
He was all over the Seahawks backfield and simply could not be stopped. The usual suspects will most likely be in contention for the DPOY, but Lawrence has earned the right to be in that conversation. In fact, he should be the favorite.
