Despite making just 12 starts as a rookie, New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is already being viewed as one of the league’s franchise cornerstones.
That’s exactly what Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon suggested when he included Dart among the NFL’s franchise centerpieces, writing that the second-year quarterback has “become the face of the franchise” while also acknowledging that we still need to see a lot more.
For Giants fans, though, that recognition probably isn’t all that surprising.
The Giants have already made Jaxson Dart the face of the franchise
The New York Giants have found their franchise quarterback in Dart, and that is painfully obvious. He is a blossoming young player, and one that this franchise can build around with ease.
A lot of moves were made on the offensive side of the ball this offseason to accommodate No. 6 and give him the best possible roster to throw to and hand the ball off to. That’s exactly why Gagnon’s comments resonate. The Giants have already committed to Dart as the future of the franchise.
Everything begins and ends with a franchise quarterback, and on paper, Big Blue has finally found their guy.
Many believed that Daniel Jones was the next franchise QB following Eli Manning’s very successful tenure, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Some even clamored for Tommy DeVito, but that always felt a bit more like falling in love with the local legend than actually trusting Tommy Cutlets with the future of the franchise. But he did give fans some moments.
Dart is the first signal-caller since Manning who feels like he has a legitimate claim to the throne. This team is moving from being a punching bag to a boxer, as head coach John Harbaugh has been brought in to get the most out of No. 6.
But it’s still important to remember that this is all on paper.
Dart showed an amazing skill set in his rookie campaign, even with both Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers going down with injuries. In a perfect world, having both of them healthy for the 2026 season would be ideal, but we all know that sometimes it isn’t the case.
Gagnon also included an important caveat in his evaluation. 12 starts aren’t enough to remove every question surrounding a 23-year-old quarterback, no matter how promising he has looked. With recognition like this also comes added pressure and heightened expectations.
This upcoming season is going to be eye-opening, in either direction. Dart can take this team back to the playoffs for the second time since the Wild Card loss in 2016, or this dream team may not become the reality everyone is hoping for.
Either way, one thing is already clear: the G-Men have built this team around Dart, and Bleacher Report simply said what many Giants fans have already been thinking.
