The worst fears were confirmed for the NY Giants, with left tackle Andrew Thomas undergoing foot surgery following the injury he suffered against the Bengals. Just like that, the former All-Pro left tackle is lost for the season - it's a huge blow for Brian Daboll and his offense.

With Thomas out of action, a new left tackle is going to have to step up and protect the blindside of Daniel Jones. For now, it's not going to be Jermaine Eluemunor. As soon as the Thomas injury was announced, plenty of Big Blue supporters were calling for Eluemunor to move to LT.

He's been fantastic at right tackle, but not many people trust either Joshua Ezeudu or Evan Neal to fill in for an injured Thomas. Daboll doesn't see things that way, though, as he revealed Eluemunor indeed will be staying put, with Ezeudu jumping in on the left side:

Joshua Ezeudu is set to take over at left tackle for the NY Giants

There's a reason Daboll is paid big bucks to make these tough calls, but we can't say that we love it. Eluemunor is his best tackle, so why not have him take over at left tackle, the most important position on the line? No disrespect to Ezeudu, but he has proven time and time again he can't handle the position.

He filled in for Thomas last year when the veteran was sidelined with a hamstring injury and we all saw how poorly he performed. As for Neal, the former first-round pick not getting an opportunity to be the next man up and start just goes to show you that Daboll and Joe Schoen don't believe in his abilities.

You'd think he'd be the first guy off the bench, but that's not the case. This felt like a golden opportunity for Carmen Bricillo to showcase how much coaching matters with Neal, but he's set to keep watching the action from the sidelines. Only time will tell if Ezeudu will prove to be the answer at LT, but this feels like a bit of a disappointing call from Coach Dabes and his staff.
