If the first wave of free agency has told New York Giants fans anything, it’s that the team believes it can compete in 2026. But just because the roster is in a better place than it was a week ago doesn’t mean the Giants should stop making winning moves.
The job isn’t finished until franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart and new head coach John Harbaugh have the most competitive roster possible. So if that means calling up the Cleveland Browns to swing a big trade for an offensive weapon, they should absolutely consider it.
Recently appearing on the Up and Adams podcast, Alabama quarterback (and Browns draft hopeful) Ty Simpson mentioned how exciting it would be to play with Ohio State star receiver Carnell Tate. If the Browns are thinking about building their receiver room around a new young target, Jerry Jeudy could suddenly find himself on the outside looking in.
Browns draft buzz could open the door for a Giants Jerry Jeudy trade
If we’re looking for a rough idea of what it would cost to acquire the soon-to-be 27-year-old, Sports Illustrated's Ryan Shea laid out a potential trade package, so using that as a baseline, I put together a package that could interest the Dawg Pound.
The trade idea is pretty straightforward:
Jeudy comes with a pretty expensive price tag -- he's in the middle of a three-year, $52.5 million contract ($17.5 million annually) he signed in 2024 that pays him through 2027. He could be too expensive for Cleveland's timeline, making him an intriguing trade option.
Funny enough, the G-Men recently restructured Brian Burns’ contract, converting $22.75 million of his 2026 salary into a signing bonus and freeing up $15.16 million in cap space. Suddenly, a deal for someone like Jeudy becomes very doable.
The reality is, even after signing Isaiah Likely, Calvin Austin III, and Darnell Mooney, Dart still needs more weapons to throw to, and Leek still needs a sidekick. Jeudy is much more likely to contribute to the offense than a sixth-round pick, which Big Blue has three of. Adding someone like Jeudy would give Dart another real weapon and take some pressure off Nabers.
The idea of Jeudy has always been better than the player. The 2020 15th overall pick has eclipsed 1,000 yards exactly once in his six-year career, totaling 351 receptions for 4,884 yards and 17 touchdowns. He might not ever be a true WR1, but that's what Nabers is here for. He'd be an unreal secondary option for Dart.
Imagine a receiver room of Nabers, Austin, and Mooney being complemented by a precise route-runner and separation specialist like Jeudy. That group suddenly starts looking like the best receiver room the Giants have rolled out in a long time. Fingers crossed the Browns go with Tate and Simpson come April so Big Blue can swoop in and steal a playmaker right from under their noses.
