Cam Skattebo said exactly what Giants fans needed to hear about the future

Unfortunately, the New York Giants organization and its fans found themselves in all too familiar territory following the 2025 NFL season. It was another miserable season with double-digit losses, as they went 4-13. They stayed true to form, winning the final two games of the year and costing themselves the No. 1 pick.... again.

They faced injuries with star receiver Malik Nabers and standout rookie running back Cam Skattebo. Plus, rookie phenom quarterback Jaxson Dart was living in the blue tent under concussion protocol. Mix all of that with a bad coach getting fired for another bad coach to take over as the interim, and you get Big Blue's 2025 campaign.

That was a lot of negativity to start off with, but believe it or not, despite another disastrous season, there was a lot of good to take away from it. Dart is the franchise QB, and there is no question about it. What he was able to do with this offense, with no true No. 1 receiver, was nothing short of impressive. Skattebo was lighting the world on fire, and though we really never got to see Dart and Nabers together, all signs point to them figuring it out.

The season was bleak, but there is hope right around the corner. Just ask Skatt, who shared his thoughts on where the G-Men stand heading into the offseason:

The Giants can find themselves back in the playoff mix with the right offseason moves

The Giants have the offensive cornerstones in place. The offensive line played out of its mind this season and finished in the Top 10 as a unit. Brian Burns is the Defensive Player of the Year if Myles Garrett didn't exist, and Abdul Carter took some time, but looked every bit the guy they thought they had with the No. 3 pick by season's end. Skattebo isn't wrong: the Giants are close, really close.

If they want to get over the hump, however, it all starts with what they do this offseason. Firstly, they need to nail the head coach hire. Meaning, it needs to be Jon Harbaugh. There can be no excuses. Give the guy a blank check if you have to, he needs to be the next head coach of this franchise.

Then comes the draft. General manager Joe Schoen was given the ultimate life preserver when he was told he gets to stick around post-Daboll. Schoen absolutely has to get this draft right. A lot of mocks have Carnell Tate going at No. 5, and that's the right play. Get Dart another weapon and really help this offense go. Try to acquire picks or get the best linebacker or corner available in the second.

We, as a fanbase, have been tricking ourselves into "this is the year" for a decade. Finally, it looks like the pieces are there. The front office just needs to finish the puzzle.
