Another day, another Big Ten coaching opportunity for one recently unemployed Brian Daboll. The former New York Giants head coach has been linked to Penn State's head coaching job and Ohio State's offensive coordinator vacancy, so why not add Michigan's sudden head coach opening to the mix?

The college football powerhouse has fired Sherrone Moore after taking over for Jim Harbaugh in 2024, as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, Pete Thamel, and Dan Wetzel:

Through two seasons, Moore led the Wolverines to a respectable 16-8 record, but was fired with cause after an investigation revealed he was having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, as stated by U-M's athletic director, Warde Manuel.

Michigan has a proud football tradition and will likely take its HC search seriously. Not everyone is built for the pressure of the Big Ten, but Daboll could be an exception.

The biggest draw to Dabs for the 12-time National Champions is freshman superstar quarterback Bryce Underwood. You can bet the next hire will need to be able to get the most out of the nation's No. 1 overall recruiting prospect. Enter Daboll.

The 50-year-old has tons of experience developing QBs. Look no further than his work with NFL superstar Josh Allen. Allen had all the tools in the world, but unforced errors, turnovers, and trying to do too much held him back -- that was until Daboll came into the picture.

His work with Giants rookie signal-caller Jaxson Dart can't go unnoticed either. The 22-year-old was widely considered a project that would need time before being an impact player, but Daboll had the 25th overall pick pulling out an upset win over a playoff-caliber team by Week 4.

Aside from the QB development, he does have some college experience. He worked under college football's GOAT, Nick Saban, at Alabama for a year as an offensive coordinator. That year, all he did was take Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa to the National Championship and come away with a win over Georgia. Not too shabby.

Who's to say he couldn't have similar success running the show in Ann Arbor? Saban's already been on record endorsing his former assistant for the Nittany Lions job -- this might be one of the few programs more prestigious than Penn State. It'd certainly beat OSU's coordinator opening.

It’s too early to tell if Michigan will give Dabs a legitimate look, but the fit makes a lot of sense. If they’re serious about developing Underwood and keeping the Wolverines in the national title conversation, he should absolutely be on their shortlist.
