The countdown continues to shrink for the return of Saquon Barkley to MetLife Stadium. On Sunday, the former NY Giants No. 2 overall pick will return to New Jersey for the first time to take on his old team. Fans are ready to shower him with boos, there's no doubt about that.

As for his old teammates, they've made it quite clear they've still got a ton of love for him. Standout defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has no problems saying he appreciates him as a friend and player. Lawrence has a ton of respect for Barkley and that's not going to change.

At the same time, though, Lawrence now sees Barkley as an Eagle when the pads are on. Because of that, Sexy Dexy is going to be ready for 'war' when he sees No. 26 trying to run past him up the middle. Lawrence will be ready to bring him down the way he would any other player:

Dexter Lawrence is ready for war against Saquon Barkley and the Eagles

Those are the words of a man who is ticked off after the Sunday Night Football loss to the Bengals, who's ready to take out some of that anger on Philadelphia. It's no secret that these two teams hate one another, which only makes the upcoming battle even more intriguing.

The fact that Barkley is set to take on his old team for the first time too adds to the drama. Big Blue supporters ripped the standout RB for leaving East Rutherford to play for the enemy, but at the end of the day, Howie Roseman and Co. gave him the best deal.

Things haven't gone according to plan for the Eagles and Barkley this season, as they've looked quite sluggish on offense and the team holds a 3-2 record following an ugly 20-16 win over the Browns. The Giants fell to 2-4 after losing to Cincy and they'll be without Andrew Thomas for the rest of the season. It will be on the defense to power the G-Men vs. the Eagles. Lawrence and others will be ready.
