The New York Giants made out like bandits during the 2026 NFL Draft. They addressed virtually every major need on the roster, and did so with guys who will make a Day 1 impact. John Harbaugh put an emphasis on the trenches with the two first-rounders, and Colton Hood and Malachi Fields were smash moves later on. It doesn't get much better than this.
However, the Giants play in arguably the best division in the NFL, and their NFC East rivals almost one-upped them. The Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders, and Dallas Cowboys also came away with great draft classes, but there's one player Big Blue is worried about having in the division.
No, I'm not talking about the Cowboys drafting Caleb Downs one pick later or the Commanders landing Sonny Styles at 7. The Giants passed on Styles once and Downs twice. If Harbaugh and Joe Schoen really wanted those two to be Giants, they'd be in New York right now. It's that simple, really.
Giants fans are livid about Makai Lemon ending up with the Eagles
I'm talking about the Eagles drafting USC receiver Makai Lemon at Pick 20. Of course this guy was falling down the draft board, and of course, Howie Roseman ended his free-fall. It feels like Philadelphia ends up with a steal like Lemon every year in the draft, but this particular instance has awful timing.
Naturally, the Eagles are in the midst of a lengthy trade saga with star receiver A.J. Brown that seems like it's finally going to come to an end on June 1. And now they already have his successor lined up in Lemon. Do I need to remind you that this guy won the Fred Biletnikoff Award over Jeremiah Smith?
He was named the best wide receiver in college football in 2025. He's a slot receiver, but is a good route runner, he's physical, and can do everything a modern NFL offense wants from a WR1. And he will be surrounded by Dallas Goedert, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley, so you can't double him.
The Eagles landing Goedert's long-term successor in Eli Stowers in Round 2 is a separate issue, but the 21-year-old will be such a pain to defend. The worst part is, we have the Cowboys to blame for this happening. If they don't intervene and trade down, Lemon gets drafted by the Steelers at Pick 21.
The G-Men did draft Hood, who is a good addition to their secondary, but even he won't be enough to slow Lemon down. At least with the other two guys, the Giants passed on them. This is someone they never considered, but if they picked later in the first round, odds are he would've been on their radar.
The Eagles are already annoying enough on offense, and I know they do this every draft, but do we really have to make the rich even richer once again with Lemon?
