ESPN names Giants best fit for top offensive lineman left in free agency

It would be a great signing. Not sure if it will happen, though.

Head cach John Harbaugh began building the New York Giants in his image at the start of free agency. He brought in some familiar faces during his time with the Baltimore Ravens, such as tight end Isaiah Likely, fullback Patrick Ricard, and punter Jordan Stout. The team also brought in other free agents like former Chicago Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Greg Newsome II. There is still one area that the team still needs to address, and that's the interior of the offensive line.

Even after their spending spree, could the Giants go after one of the top offensive linemen available?

ESPN's Bill Barnwell released his predictions for the best landing spots for the top remaining free agents. When it comes to former Cleveland Brons offensive guard Wyatt Teller, Barnwell says his best fit is with the Giants.

"John Harbaugh has brought plenty of former Ravens to New York, so maybe he could add a former AFC North opponent to the mix, too. Greg Van Roten (2025 starter) and Joshua Ezeudu (reserve) are both free agents, and while the Giants re-signed 2022 first-round pick Evan Neal, he struggled badly at tackle and didn't play a single regular-season snap after moving to guard during the 2025 preseason. Teller would step in at right guard and offer some physicality in the short term protecting for Jaxson Dart," writes Barnwell.

ESPN says Giants are best landing spot for free agent G Wyatt Teller

Teller had long been linked to the Giants this offseason. The team needed to address the guard position, and Teller was one of the top options available.

The Giants tried adding a guard early in free agency, where they were reportedly close to a deal with former New York Jet Alijah Vera-Tucker, but the two sides had a disagreement on the term of a contract. So, Vera-Tucker signed a three-year, $48 million contract with the New England Patriots. Teller seemed like the easy pivot, but the Giants addressed other positions.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan did report that the Giants pivoted from searching for "a mid-tier guard" like Teller and will "wait out that market." This was from Wednesday. Giants fans will point out that on Friday, the team restructured pass rusher Brian Burns' contract, freeing up over $15 million in cap space. However, Raanan says that the move was made more to give them operating funds, and it was unlikely they'll use it on a big free agent signing.

Things can obviously change as the offseason progreses. If the guard market is inactive, there's a likelihood that the team could very well explore an option like Teller or Joel Bitonio.

Last season with the Browns, Teller allowed 24 pressures and three sacks on 765 snaps (13 games), according to Pro Football Focus.

While Teller would be a good fit for the Giants, it doesn't seem like anything is imminent. It would be great if the Giants did bring in an option at one of their starting guard positions, but it appears the team will at least wait a bit longer until making a move.
