Fed-Up NY Giants fans fly savage banner over MetLife Stadium
By Matt Sidney
If you happened to be near MetLife Stadium on Sunday morning and thought you spotted a plane carrying a message in the sky, no, it wasn’t an ad for beachside timeshares.
That banner soaring across the blue New Jersey skies carried a plea from fed-up New York Giants fans, directed squarely at team owner John Mara: “MR. MARA ENOUGH – PLZ FIX THIS DUMPSTER FIRE.”
For those keeping score at home, the Giants entered Sunday’s game against the Saints with a 2-10 record, marking another dismal chapter in what has become over a decade of dysfunction. Fans didn’t just run out of patience this season—they’ve been out of patience for years. But it seems this season's mix of poor on-field play, questionable roster decisions, and a general sense of hopelessness has taken their frustration to new altitudes—literally.
The message isn’t subtle, and the frustration is understandable. This is a franchise celebrating its 100th season, but there’s not much worth celebrating. The Giants were eliminated from playoff contention before December, they’re on a seven-game losing streak, and the only thing keeping fans watching is the hope they’ll land the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. When the product on the field inspires so little faith, desperate measures—like a banner over a stadium—start to make sense.
New York Giants fans are taking their frustrations to new heights (literally)
This isn’t the first time Giants fans have taken to the skies to express their frustrations. Back in 1978, a plane flew over Giants Stadium with a banner that read, “15 YEARS OF LOUSY FOOTBALL … WE’VE HAD ENOUGH.” That message was a catalyst for significant changes, including the hiring of George Young as general manager, which helped set the franchise on a path to future success.
But will history repeat itself? This time around, John Mara has insisted general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll will remain in place for 2025, even as the team spirals toward what could be one of the worst seasons in its history. The front office’s confidence in this duo remains unshaken—for now—but it’s hard to imagine Mara standing pat if the Giants finish 2-15.
The banner over MetLife Stadium represents more than just fan anger; it’s a wake-up call for the entire organization. Fans are tired of mediocrity, tired of losing, and tired of watching the franchise sink deeper into irrelevance. Whether the front office takes this protest to heart—or dismisses it as just a few disgruntled fans—remains to be seen.
But one thing is clear: Giants fans aren’t afraid to speak their minds. And if this season ends as badly as it’s trending, they might need more planes.
