Some players are just destined to share the field with each other. Drew Bledsoe and Terry Glenn, Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, and Daniel Jones and Darius Slayton. Okay, the former New York Giants duo doesn't come close to meeting the level of the league's most decorated QB-WR tandems, but the two players have reunited after a short time apart.
Per Tom Pelissero, Slayton is signing with the Indianapolis Colts. The details of the contract were not yet known. He was released by the Giants just days before their Week 1 game after rapidly falling down the depth chart in the preseason. Now, he'll combine forces with Jones once again in hopes of reviving his career.

Former Giants WR Darius Slayton finds lifeline with Colts
Not only has Slayton found a landing spot two weeks to the day after the Giants released him, but he might actually play a significant role in the Colts' offense. Starting wideout Alec Pierce is dealing with a heel injury that he suffered in Indianapolis' Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The receiver group was already thin after trading Michael Pittman Jr. to the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason.
With Pierce sidelined, the Colts were relying on Josh Downs and 34-year-old Keenan Allen as their primary wide receivers. Laquon Treadwell was playing significant snaps for Indianapolis in Week 2 after Pierce went down.
In such a thin group of receivers, Slayton could quickly take hold of a real role with the Colts. His familiarity with their quarterback certainly won't hurt.
The most productive years of Slayton's career came when Jones was throwing him the ball in East Rutherford. In 2022, the wideout grabbed 51 balls for 816 yards, both career high marks to this day. He followed that year up with a 770-yard campaign that helped him earn his infamous three-year contract. The duo spent five seasons together in New York.
Slayton's fall from grace with the Giants began almost immediately after Jones left town. In 2025, his only full season since Jones left, he posted just 37 catches for 538 yards and one touchdown.
Perhaps with his former quarterback, he can regain some of the production that made him a fixture in the Giants' offense. The Colts are certainly relying on him to do so while they wait for Pierce to return.
