Many view the Rams as heavy favorites to win this year’s Super Bowl, largely because of their loaded defense featuring Myles Garrett, Trent McDuffie, Byron Young, and, of course, three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald.
If you thought facing the Cowboys’ front seven was difficult for the Giants’ offensive line, the G-Men will have their hands full blocking for Jaxson Dart against this Rams front. This will be a crucial test for one lineman in particular, who is still getting his first taste of NFL action.
Donald’s status for Monday night has not been confirmed, but NFL insider Ian Rapoport said he expects the future Hall of Famer to make his return against the Giants. If he does, Francis Mauigoa could be staring down one hell of a challenge in just his second NFL game.

The Rams didn't match the G-Men's Week 1 success, losing 27-7 to the 49ers on Thursday Night Football in Melbourne, Australia. They'll need a stronger showing in Week 2 against the New York Giants.
Although Garrett made his Rams debut in Week 1, he was placed on injured reserve after getting hurt, which required arthroscopic knee surgery. The Giants get a break with last year’s Defensive Player of the Year not playing, but they will likely face Donald.
The former Super Bowl Champion announced his un-retirement just before the season started, and with him expected to make his re-debut with Los Angeles at home, this will be an early test for Giants rookie right guard Francis Mauigoa.
Sisi had a strong debut at right guard against the Cowboys, allowing no pressures, quarterback hits, hurries, or sacks, showing why Harbaugh took a chance on him with the No. 10 pick in this past NFL Draft and what the 21-year-old can accomplish in his rookie campaign.
Although Donald hasn’t played since 2023 and has been out of the league for two seasons, he is probably still considered one of the greatest defensive players in NFL history and shouldn’t be taken lightly, meaning it will be a battle for Mauigoa.
While it won’t be easy for Sisi, an early test against a defensive end of Donald's caliber should make him a better player in the long run.
Harbaugh has always been known as a coach who has prioritized winning in the trenches, and that will be a crucial storyline to watch in the Giants’ Week 2 matchup.
