New York Giants fans enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys struggle in 2024 and hope that they'll get to witness more of that in 2025. One position that might not do the Cowboys any favors this upcoming season is running back, which was recently dubbed as the Cowboys' biggest training camp battle this summer by ESPN.

The two candidates for the starting running back job in Dallas are Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, two castoffs from other teams. Williams was a former second-round pick by the Broncos in 2021 and after a promising rookie year, never matched that level of production again to the point that Denver was willing to let him go.

Sanders has previously terrorized both the Giants and the Cowboys during his four-year stint in Philadelphia but he's fallen off in recent years with the Panthers. Now he's joining the Cowboys and truthfully, neither of these guys should strike fear in Giants fans.

Cowboys RB position looks destined to disappoint

Maybe Williams and/or Sanders play well for their new team but considering Sanders' numbers have dipped since his prolific 2022 season and Williams never quite lived up to the hype, the chances of that happening seem unlikely. This, of course, is music to Giants fans' ears.

Meanwhile, the Giants have an intriguing running back room, consisting of Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and big-name rookie Cam Skattebo. Tracy rushed for 839 yards and five touchdowns in 17 games last year while Singletary rushed for four touchdowns. Skattebo rushed for over 1,700 yards and an astounding 21 touchdowns in his final year with Arizona State, helping propel them to an appearance in the College Football Playoffs and already looks dangerous with his new team.

It'd be quite funny if the Giants' rushing attack tore it up while Dallas' running backs fell flat. After all, it's always entertaining to see the Cowboys struggle and it feels like the writing could be on the wall for their run game to have a difficult time in 2025.
