Giants fans are literally screaming at Brian Daboll to bench Russell Wilson

This was quite the scene.

As Sunday Night Football kicked off for Week 3, the New York Giants hosted last year's AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs in a game they had absolutely no business being in if you were to ask just three short weeks ago.

Yet, the Chiefs are not the same Chiefs that took the league's biggest stage earlier this calendar year. And, somehow, the Giants were in this game early. But, it wasn't thanks to quarterback Russell Wilson. Having come off a monster performance a week ago against the Dallas Cowboys, this wasn't the same story.

No, Wilson was off in this contest. By halftime, Wilson had thrown two interceptions and both of them were easily avoidable. Yet, he seemed to be throwing caution to the wind. He was far from efficient and had Giants fans ready to pull their hair out in no time.

How mad were Giants fans? On a national stage, with millions watching on television, Giants fans were seen chanting, "We want Dart!"

Giants fans have had enough of Russell Wilson and are ready for a new era

We knew this moment would happen eventually. In fact, some might have predicted that this be the game where head coach Brian Daboll finally pulls the plug.

Except, I don't think anybody saw a close game between the Chiefs and Giants, early. If you asked Giants fans a month ago whether they truly believed New York would be in this game, most would have laughed and predicted the Chiefs win this in a route.

Yet, there they were; the New York faithful in their home stadium, having watched the Giants defense come out and frustrate Patrick Mahomes. They had just witnessed a first half of football that some might have called "boring."

But, to Giants fans? This was a ray of hope. New York had kept Mahomes and Kansas City's offense in check, allowing them just three measly field goals. Yet, Wilson entered halftime having gone 7-for-13 for 39 yards, two interceptions and a miserable quarterback rating of only 19.9.

Wilson's performance, in just two quarters, was abysmal. There was no doubt Giants fans had every reason to be begging for Jaxson Dart. At this rate, he'll be starting much sooner than some fans had anticipated.

The first-round rookie is the future of this franchise. And, in prime time on a national stage, Giants fans let the world know exactly how they felt about Russ.

They want Dart.
