It only took 1 drive for Jaxson Dart to have NY Giants fans hopeful for the future

This is what the G-Men faithful have been waiting for.

This is what everyone has been waiting for. With the greatest of respect for NY Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, it was clearly time for him to hit the bench and for rookie Jaxson Dart to take over. Well, Dart has gotten things going with a bang.

One Giants player that could completely flip Week 4 on its head

On his first series, Dart had everyone at MetLife Stadium off their seats. He was 2-for-2 on his pass attempts for 20 yards, but he really did damage with his legs, running three times for 28 yards. He capped the opening drive off with a brilliant 15-yard TD run:

Jaxson Dart has everyone talking after a brilliant first series as QB1 for the NY Giants

That was the Giants' first opening drive touchdown in nine games and it was also the first touchdown the Chargers have allowed in the first quarter this season. Remember leading up to kickoff when offensive coordinator Mike Kafka hinted the playbook would open up a little for Dart? Yeah, he wasn't kidding.

Too early to start thinking about the Jaxson Dart Statue in East Rutherford? We kid, but the fact of the matter here is that Dart didn't waste any time in having people fired up over his potential. Wilson provided some excitement against the Cowboys, but outside of that, things have been pretty vanilla on that side of the ball.

People were calling for Dart to get his shot to run the offense and that wish came true for the Giants faithful all over New Jersey and New York. There's a ton of excitement surrounding this kid and rightfully so. He was saying all the right things ahead of kickoff, which had people even more excited to see what he can do.

Obviously, we can't crown Dart as the Big Blue savior after only a few minutes on the field in his starting debut. However, he has injected needed excitement into this team and things could not have gone any better to open play up against the Chargers. We'll see what else he'll be able to get done going up against Justin Herbert and LA.
