For the first time in 2025, the New York Giants found themselves back in the win column following Sunday’s Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. The highly anticipated debut of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was everything fans could have hoped for, as Big Blue pulled out the 21-18 upset victory.

However, it wasn’t all good news. Star wide receiver Malik Nabers tore his ACL and is out for the season.

In true Giants fashion, even the win came with a rollercoaster of emotions for the team, the front office, and the fanbase. Despite that, New York checks in at No. 24 in NFL Spin Zone's latest power rankings from Sayre Bedinger. For the first time in what feels like forever, someone finally doesn’t have the Giants buried in the bottom fourth of the league. Winning feels good. Let’s dive in.

It’s incredible what competent quarterback play can do for a defense’s mentality. The Giants finally got a real look at the unit they were promised on Sunday. The defensive front posted a nearly 70% win rate on pass rushes and completely dismantled a banged-up Chargers offensive line. Rookie linebacker Abdul Carter lived up to the hype with nine pressures, and Brian Burns continued his stellar season with another sack and seven total pressures.

The defense flying around definitely had an effect on Dart. With that side of the ball picking him up, the rookie was able to settle in and play free, without the entire weight of the team on his shoulders. He did exactly what was asked: 13-of-20 for 111 yards and a touchdown through the air, plus 25 rushing yards and another score on the ground.

Fans finally got a glimpse of what this team looks like when the defense wreaks havoc and the offense simply does its job. Others seem to have noticed too, hence the bump in the rankings.

This team is far from perfect, especially with their star receiver now sidelined. There’s plenty to clean up with the offensive line, penalties, and some lingering secondary concerns.

Still, it’s impossible not to feel encouraged by what we saw Sunday. A disruptive defensive front, a promising young quarterback, and an absolute dog at running back in Cam Skattebo are enough to keep this team both entertaining and competitive. Considering the question marks, that No. 24 ranking feels more than fair. Hopefully, it’s just the start of their climb.
