With just a week left to go before another ugly New York Giants season is put to bed, if there was any silver lining this year, it was that the Giants may have their franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart...or do they?
Dart has been an exciting little spark plug for New York throughout this year. Even though the wins have not been there for Big Blue, Dart has played well during this rookie season, especially considering he's been without his No. 1 wide receiver, Malik Nabers, as well as fellow rookie and best friend, Cam Skattebo, for much of 2025.
While Dart led the Giants to just their third victory of the season on Sunday against the Las Vegas, rumors have circulated that the team will evaluate everything at the end of this year (including the quarterback position). Even though that may sound crazy, considering the G-Men traded up in the draft last year to select the 22-year-old, does this grade of Dart's performance on Sunday further escalate those rumors?
Jaxson Dart’s ‘B’ grade fuels Giants QB speculation ahead of 2026 offseason
In an article for Bleacher Report, Brent Sobleski gave out his weekly report cards for QBs across the NFL for Week 17. When it came time to grade Dart, he only gave the former Ole Miss Rebel a 'B.'
"As part of the Giants' best outing in over two months, Jaxson Dart returned to form and looked like the quarterback who originally took the team's lineup by storm," Sobleski wrote."It's understandable that New York's coaching and medical staffs want to make sure the rookie is judicious with his decisions to run the football and avoid taking big hits. Though Dart's mobility can be weaponized, as it was Sunday with a pair of rushing touchdowns."

As Soblewski alluded to, Dart played very well against Las Vegas. He had 207 passing yards as well as racking up two rushing touchdowns to help propel the G-Men to their first win in over two months. With that great effort by Dart, it certainly begs the question about why he only got a 'B'?
Was it because he was playing against a bad Raiders team that may have been tanking? Or is it because there are still concerns about his ability to be the franchise man for years to come?
If there is one area in particular that Big Blue and its fans should be most worried about with Dart going forward, it is perhaps his aggressiveness as a runner and his inability to slide to avoid taking massive hits. That has resulted in him being evaluated for a concussion five times in 10 games this season, as well as missing two games because of that.
These rumors will certainly continue after the regular season comes to an end, especially with the Giants slated to have a top-three pick in the draft next year, as well as still having an outside chance of that number one overall pick. Still, however, Jaxson Dart should be the Giants' quarterback going forward.
