New York Giants fans had to endure a lot of bad constructions of the offensive line since they won Super Bowl 46. It took a while, but the Giants have a lock solid core this season, and it has contributed to their success entering their Week 8 bye. One of the players that helped significantly improve the blocking at the line of scrimmage is right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who signed back in 2024 and has remained with the team since. Before signing a three-year, $39 million extension, Eluemunor declared that he was the best right tackle in the league.
Through seven games this season, Eluemunor has proven the Giants and the NFL world correct. Look no further than in Week 7.
The Giants picked up a huge 27-21 win over the Houston Texans in overtime. While the attention was given to running back Cam Skattebo in his return from last week's benching and quarterback J.J. McCarthy in his first start, the offensive line did their part in opening up lanes for the running backs while keeping McCarthy upright. For Eluemunor, he helped keep the Texans pass rush, which is dominant on paper, at bay. That included Will Anderson Jr., who was a non-factor in the game. Eluemunor played 31 pass blocking snaps and allowed just two pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.
Jermaine Eluemunor continues to believe he's best right tackle in NFL after shutting down Will Anderson Jr.
After the game, Eluemunor spoke with reporters about the offensive line's effort in Houston on Sunday. When talking about the Texans pass rush, Eluemunor said "if you didn't hear [Will Anderson Jr.'s] name today, then I did a pretty good job."
"I'm not too shy about saying I'm the best right tackle in the NFL. People can go watch the tape and take from it what they will. I did my job today," said Eluemunor, h/t SNY.
Anderson has quickly shown that he is one of the most dangerous pass rushers in the game ever since he was drafted in the first round by the Texans. He won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2023, was named First Team All-Pro in 2025, and made the Pro Bowl twice (2023, 2025). Entering Week 7, Anderson had a NFL-best 7.5 sacks to his credit. The fact that Eluemunor and the Giants offensive line did their part in rendering him to be a non-factor is incredible.
What makes it that much more impressive is that Eluemunor entered this game working his way back from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for Week 6's game against the Saints. Not to mention that left tackle Andrew Thomas was dealing with a groin injury.
Jermaine Eluemunor is having strong third season with Giants
When it comes to Eluemunor, he may go down as one of general manager Joe Schoen's best free agent signing, especially considering he was the solution to their longstanding right tackle problem. The likes of Ereck Flowers and Evan Neal were not capable of handling that workload and flamed out with the Giants. With Eluemunor, he showed he was more than capable of being the every game right tackle.
This season, Eluemunor has been stellar at right tackle. On 193 pass blocking snaps, Eluemunor allowed just five pressures, one sack, and one quarterback hit, according to Pro Football Focus. It's hard to complain about those results.
It goes to show that even with the injury to Jaxson Dart early this season, the Giants offensive line is giving Jameis Winston and McCarthy more than ample time to make plays by holding off incoming defenders.
Eluemunor is not shy in expressing his confidence iin his abilities. The statisitcs don't lie, and he's shown to be one of the best right tackles in the league, if not the best.
