As NFL training camps open this week, there are already plenty of tidbits worth talking about. Namely, the New York Giants and their fan base can already begin laughing at a division rival.
Aside from any Giants storylines like the quarterback room or Brian Daboll's long-term future, it's another NFC East team that's causing fans' ears to perk up. When the Dallas Cowboys reported for their respective training camp, owner Jerry Jones spoke to the media and raised some eyebrows with his latest comments.
When speaking about star pass rusher Micah Parsons and his contract situation, Jones had this to say:
"Just because we sign him doesn't mean we are going to have him. He missed six games last year."
Jerry Jones can't even get his own story straight, and Giants fans have to love it
For those who might be catching up, Parsons has long deserved a new contract. To this point in the lengthy offseason, the Cowboys have not gotten it done. What's taking so long? Only Jerry knows, at this point.
But, the Cowboys owner alluded to the fact that Parsons missed time last year. Thus, even if the Cowboys pay him, it doesn't mean he'll be on the field. In short, it wasn't exactly a positive comment. If anything, it was a pretty unwarranted shot.
As if Parsons could control the fact that he got injured, Jones simply didn't care.
The best part, though, is the fact that Parsons missed only four games -- not six.
So, while the Giants have received plenty of questions over the last several months about their future on a long-term basis, at least they're not the Cowboys. At least they don't have to put up with a tone-deaf owner who can't even get his facts straight when it comes to one of the franchise's most important players.
What's going to be even sweeter is when his Cowboys go down to Big Blue at the Giants' first opportunity this coming season; in Week 2, at Jerry's World.
It'll be glorious.
