John Harbaugh's first season as the head coach of the New York Giants has been anything but easy.

Not even two games into his tenure, the Giants lost their starting quarterback, Jaxson Dart, to a season-ending knee injury, and a week later, their best pass rusher, Brian Burns, to a torn ACL.

Still, Harbaugh has New York sitting alone in first place in the NFC East at 4-2-1, coming off a thrilling overtime win over the Houston Texans on Sunday as they head into their bye week. With the Giants looking to hold firm in the NFC East standings, Harbaugh's history suggests they will be just fine coming out of their bye week.

John Harbaugh's history following bye week suggets Giants should keep up their winning ways

Everyone knows that Harbaugh is a great head coach, which is why the Giants were deemed the biggest winners of the offseason.

During his 18 seasons as the Baltimore Ravens head coach, Harbaugh had just three losing seasons, two of which went 8-9. Another impressive stat on his ledger is his success after the bye.

Harbaugh is 15-3 coming off a bye week, the best winning percentage in NFL history among head coaches with at least 10 games. He hasn't lost a game after the bye since the 2020 season. Before 2020, Harbaugh hadn't lost a game coming out of the bye since 2015. An incredible under-the-radar feat that he looks to continue less than two weeks from now.

Giants' bye week couldn't have come at a better time

This impressive streak could certainly continue. Following their bye week, the Giants will travel to Philly to take on the Eagles, who have lost five straight games, are decimated by injuries, lost their quarterback, Jalen Hurts, for the season, and have a defense that has been one of the worst in the league during their five-game skid. Talk about a golden opportunity for a Giants team coming off a bye week.

The Giants can also snap another long streak of their own. They have not won a game at Lincoln Financial Field since the 2013 season. There's no reason to believe that streak will continue, given how the Eagles have been playing lately and their injuries.

New York's bye also comes at a perfect time, with some of their key players nursing minor injuries. They'd use the bye week to get them healthy.

Despite losing many key players to injury, Harbaugh has clearly kept this team motivated, believing in one another and in every game they have played over the last couple of weeks. As the Giants look to maintain their lead in the NFC East, Harbaugh's impressive winning percentage after the bye week is a strong way to kick off the second half of the season.
