After his introductory press conference as the head coach of the New York Giants, John Harbaugh is ready to gut the coaching staff. He revealed the team is finally beginning the process of assembling their new coaching staff, and it doesn't appear that many coaches currently on staff are safe.
The one coach who Harbaugh probably should bring back is OL coach Carmen Bricillo, who has helped turn around the offensive line. It's unclear how John feels, but his dad, Jack Harbaugh, seems to be a pretty big fan of Bricillo's, as he jokingly admitted he put in a good word for his son with him.
Got to speak with Jack Harbaugh, and I can only hope to be as sharp at 53 as the family patriarch is at 86.

Interesting nugget: Dad Harbaugh told me he put in word to John about offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo, joking that he may have told his son he better bring him back
Knowing that the 86-year-old Harbaugh patriarch is keeping Bricillo on his son's radar is reassuring. He recommended he retain the 49-year-old, and it's not hard to blame him, especially knowing that a major aspect of the family philosophy is centered around dominance on both sides of the trenches.
Jack Harbaugh told John Harbaugh he needs to retain Carmen Bricilo as Giants' OL coach
There's been talk of several assistant coaches following the 63-year-old to New York, most notably Todd Monken as OC, but he's still garnering head coaching interest. Bricillo is an interesting case, as he's been with the G-Men for the last two seasons, but George Warhop could also be in play.
Frankly, it isn't too hard to see Harbaugh Sr.'s point. The Giants' offensive line was among the worst in football until Bricillo came to town, and he has turned the unit around. Andrew Thomas is back playing at an All-Pro level, and Jermaine Eluemenor has been one of the NFL's more underestimated linemen.
According to Pro Football Focus' seasonal offensive line rankings, the Giants finished in ninth in the NFL, which is pretty impressive for a team that finished with four wins. That bodes well for Jaxson Dart's future, as long as they ensure Eluemenor remains a Giant once free agency rolls around.
The Giants ranked 30th in pass-blocking efficiency in 2024, and that number rose all the way to fourth this season. Additionally, their 30 sacks surrendered last year were cut in half, which was mainly because Thomas and Eluemunor were quietly one of the better tackle duos in football this season.
The Giants' offensive line is far from a finished product, but Bricillo did more with less, just like he did in Las Vegas. He's probably one of the only coaches Brian Daboll hired who has earned the chance to return with Harbaugh at the helm, so here's hoping he listens to his dad and makes it happen.
