The New York Giants have John Harbaugh leading the charge of this new era. A big reason he took the job was due to having Malik Nabers on the roster. Although Nabers is rehabbing his way back from a torn ACL, he's taken massive strides this summer, and he continues to get better.

When speaking about the next steps for Nabers, Harbaugh hinted that he could take another step towards being a full participant next week.

"He’s kind of exactly where he’s been. And we’re looking towards soon ramping him up into some group periods and perhaps some team periods. Maybe next week. We’ll see. He’s doing great. He’s working hard. Spirits are high,” Harbaugh said.

This is a great update and continues to show that Nabers is heading in the right direction ahead of the 2026 campaign.

John Harbaugh's latest update could be huge for Malik Nabers and Giants

Nabers has been a limited participant through the first 13 practices of camp. Even though he isn't lining up during team drills, Nabers has been doing positional drills and looking fluid while doing so. Harbaugh's statements also line up with what ESPN's Jordan Raanan said on Aug. 9.

Raanan stated that Nabers is trending toward playing in Week 1, barring any setback. So getting back on the field as a full participant is the next step for the star receiver. From all reports, Nabers looks good out there. He's cutting, planting, changing directions, accelerating, and decelerating.

Being able to get on the field for a full slate of practice, including tackling, will be a major hurdle for him to clear. There's no downplaying how impactful Nabers is to this offense, so having him on the field will be so beneficial to this team.

Everyone knows that the passing game will run through Nabers, and he's the alpha in that room. Isaiah Likely has been another pass catcher who's been developing a rapport with Jaxson Dart and should be a factor in the aerial attack.

Regardless, Nabers is New York's top receiver and is inching toward a return to the gridiron. In 19 games with the Giants, the LSU product had logged 127 catches for 1,475 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. There's no sugarcoating how important he is to the team.

It's always tough when a player is coming back from a major injury. You never want to see any setbacks, and it looks like Nabers has been constantly trending up. These comments from Harbaugh show that, and fans should keep a close eye on Monday and Tuesday's practice following the preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings.
