The 2026 Scouting Combine has taken center stage for the NFL, and teams are already learning things about prospects. On Monday, the New York Giants received an important mesasge about a player who’s expected to be high on their board. That player is wide receiver Jordyn Tyson, and it was revealed that he won’t be participating in any on-field drills at the combine.

The talented wideout, who’s regarded as one of the top receivers in the class, is reportedly working his way back from his in-season hamstring injury. Tyson’s injury history has already been identified as his biggest flaw, and since that will seemingly keep him off the field at the Combine, he could be removed as an option for New York at no. 5.

Jordyn Tyson’s health concerns could keep Giants away at no. 5

The Giants currently hold one first-round pick in 2026, and it’s pick no. 5. That’s a premium selection spot, and a slot that should land New York one of the best players in the draft. Tyson’s skillset says he belongs in that conversation, but New York will have to ask itself if he’s the guy they want to gamble on with that pick, considering his injury history.

The wide receiver had a multi-ligament knee injury in 2022, a collarbone injury in 2024, and a hamstring injury in 2025. That’s why he only played in 33 games in his four year college career. Tyson thrived in those games, catching 158 passes for 2,282 yards and 22 touchdowns. That production is why teams are interested in getting to know the wide receiver.

The Giants should definitely be apart of those teams, as they need wide receiver help. Exciting wideout Malik Nabers is currently recovering from a significant knee injury sustained this past season and Wan’Dale Robinson is set to enter free agency. That’s why numerous mock drafts have had New York selecting receivers at no. 5.

The Giants could do that come draft time, but injuries could prevent Jordyn Tyson from being that receiver. Tyson’s medical evaluation at the combine will be huge for his draft stock, especially with the Giants. If New York is concerned by the wide receiver’s health, he won’t be an option for the Giants when they’re on the clock with the fifth pick.
