New York Giants fans quite enjoy watching the Dallas Cowboys struggle. Any division rival takes pleasure in seeing one of their foes flounder and it's no different in the NFC East. Sure, the Giants haven't been great against Dallas in recent years but fans can still appreciate when the Cowboys aren't performing up to the lofty expectations they place on themselves every year.
The Cowboys had a disappointing year in 2024 and Giants fans hope that continues in 2025. Something that could potentially help aid in another bad year for the 'Boys is not having Demarion Overshown in their starting lineup. Overshown tore his ACL, PCL, and MCL late in the 2024 season and rehabbing from that will take time, meaning he might not be back in the lineup until Thanksgiving or even later.
Not having Overshown is a big enough blow to the Cowboys defense but they thought a good replacement would be Kenneth Murray, who has been a liability throughout his career. Murray, a first-round pick by the Chargers in 2020, spent last year with the Titans and was abysmal. He finished the year with an overall PFF grade of 45.9 and had an atrocious run-defense grade of 35.0.
Kenneth Murray trade could sink the Cowboys' season
While the Cowboys won't solely rely on Murray on defense, he will surely see some snaps. Dallas didn't trade for the guy to let him sit on the bench. The more Murray plays, the better for Giants fans, as he's been such a liability since entering the league in 2020.
The Giants have some juice in their run game this year and if Murray is the guy leading the charge in the Cowboys' run defense, it could spell disaster for Dallas and delight for the Giants. Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, and rookie Cam Skattebo should be able to feast against Murray in those moments.
The Giants have struggled to get a win against Dallas in recent years, not winning a game against them since early 2021 but hopefully, that changes this year. If the offense can pick it up and make some plays against what could be a weakened Cowboys defense, perhaps things will go differently this year.
