Latest 2025 NY Giants mock draft gives Brian Daboll everything he needs
By Ryan Heckman
The New York Giants have put their fan base through the ringer over the past couple of weeks, but there is still plenty of time for this organization to ensure they do the right thing in the end.
The Daniel Jones era was justifiably put to an end last week, with the team releasing their former franchise quarterback. But, there are still whispers of head coach Brian Daboll reportedly coaching for his job over the remainder of this season.
To be frank, that's a silly proposition. Daboll is a good coach, as many insiders and league experts have stated over the last several days when discussing this topic. If anything, keeping Daboll on board and allowing him to select his own quarterback is the way to go.
And, in our latest 2025 mock draft, that's exactly what the Giants do. Daboll deserves to keep his job while spearheading the quarterback search. Fortunately, this team is slotted to pick no. 2 overall at the moment.
With their current positioning, let's do a brief 3-Round mock and figure out just where this team is headed.
The Giants do the right thing by allowing Brian Daboll to get his quarterback
In this mock, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was not taken with the first pick, thus the Giants will bring him in and build their franchise around coach Prime's son.
In a class without any other legitimate studs, Sanders is maybe the closest thing to a "sure thing" as there is. Coming from the bloodline of a Hall of Famer, Sanders is a player through and through. He plays with the mentality and resolve that you'd like to see out of a pro, but that's not everything.
More Giants news:
Sanders is as accurate as any passer in this class. You hear the phrase "make all the throws," and that's about as true as it is with any prospect as it is with Sanders. He is crafty and mobile enough to navigate a dirty pocket as well, which allows him to extend plays.
With Sanders, the Giants get their man and with Daboll at the helm, the turnaround happens much quicker.
The Giants already have their elite, shifty receiver who is a matchup nightmare and can separate while gaining yards after the catch at a high level. But, to pair Malik Nabers with a top-notch outside threat would be Sanders' dream.
Ole Miss wideout Tre Harris stands 6-foot-2 with that prototypical big body he uses to dominate opposing defensive backs. He has an enormous catch radius, plays with excellent hand strength and can line up in a variety of ways. Daboll will have a lot of fun deploying both Harris and Nabers while watching Sanders under center.
In Round 3, the Giants take the best available player and it ends up being quite the specimen to team up alongside Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns. At 6-foot-4, 290 pounds, Sanders is an athletic interior lineman who plays every down with purpose.
He needs to work on technique and a plan when it comes to rushing the passer, but he's got the physical tools to be highly disruptive.
