The New York Giants and their three-game losing streak are on the road, looking to pull off a much-needed upset at Soldier Field against the Chicago Bears.

Darius Slayton has been working his way back from a hamstring injury that kept him out of Weeks 6 and 7. Unfortunately, it looks like he's re-aggravated it. As confirmed by The Athletic's Dan Duggan, the seventh-year pro has a hamstring injury and is headed to the locker room.

Slayton’s injury comes at a brutal time. Not only is the offense already paper-thin with star wide receiver Malik Nabers and rookie running back Cam Skattebo out for the season, but their ground game has completely disappeared in the first half. The lack of weapons puts the game squarely in rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart’s hands — and if the first half is any indication, he’s going to have to carry this thing himself.

The 28-year-old was replaced by Gunner Olszewski, working with trainers on the sideline before ultimately heading into the locker room for further evaluation. His status is still up in the air, but it’s definitely not encouraging.

This is a massive bummer. The veteran was enjoying a monster first half — three receptions for 85 yards. But that's the thing with hamstring injuries. They sometimes have a frustrating tendency to stick around longer than you'd like. If that's the case here, Big Blue is in for a rude awakening.

The guy finally has a good game and then goes down. It's so annoying.

If Slayton misses serious time, the decision not to get Dart help at the trade deadline will come under fire. The 22-year-old is shouldering everything, and while he looks up to the task, asking this much of a rookie might not be the best short- or long-term strategy.

Until Slayton is able to return, expect a healthy dose of Wan'Dale Robinson and Theo Johnson to be Dart's primary targets.

Slayton did return to the game in the second half. Still, his hamstring will be something to keep an eye out for.
