The New York Giants are playing host to the Kansas City Chiefs in their 2025 home opener in primetime, under the lights on Sunday Night Football. It's a matchup of two teams looking to secure their first win of the season. Unfortunately for the G-Men, that task might have just taken a pretty big blow.
Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. got rocked by Drue Tranquill and Jaylen Watson at the end of a three-yard catch and run on their second drive of the game. The 25-year-old spent some time on the ground on the sideline before getting up with assistance from Giants trainer Ronnie Barnes, favoring his right shoulder.
The injury comes at a pretty brutal time. Tracy had been having an impressive first quarter, with seven carries for 29 yards and two receptions for seven yards. This came after it was reported that rookie back Cam Skattebo would likely be seeing a heavier workload over him, which now looks likely for a much different reason.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. exits Giants game with shoulder injury, questionable to return
Tracy has headed straight to the locker room to get X-rays. His injury status remains up in the air, but Giants fans should expect a heavy dose of Skatt.
The fourth-round pick out of Arizona State made a name for himself in New York's Week 2 overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys, where he accumulated 59 scrimmage yards (45 rushing and 14 receiving), along with his first career rushing touchdown.

Hopefully, the second-year back is able to return to the field to help this Giants offense against the stingy Kansas City defense. Immediately after his injury, the Giants' second drive stalled, and they were forced to punt.
Until Tracy is officially back, expect Skattebo, with a hint of Devin Singletary, to be the primary ballhandler out of the backfield. Here's to hoping Skatt can continue his breakout.
We'll provide updates on his injury status as they are made available.
