New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers took a big step on Monday, practicing in full-speed team periods for the first time this training camp. Wearing a red, no-contact jersey, it was the latest step in the wideout’s ramp-up process as he works his way back from a torn ACL.

Since training camp started, it has been nothing but positive news for Nabers’ health. With one of the league’s best receivers set to return to New York’s lineup this season, Giants fans are obviously excited, but no one is more excited than Nabers himself.

Following Monday’s practice, the wideout delivered a strong statement to emphasize just how much it means to him to be back on the field making plays. Nabers characterized his time away from the game as his soul being dead, but expressed that his soul is now coming back to life.

"My soul’s been dead for so long, just being away from the game. So just getting out there and having my teammates behind me, kinda felt that soul come back to life out there."

That statement captures just how much the game of football means to Nabers. To say that playing football is the lifeline of his soul speaks to how much he loves the game. What fan wouldn’t want to cheer for a player who cherishes the game that much.

Nabers has always worn his emotions on his sleeve, and plays with a ton of passion when he’s on the field making plays. On Monday, both the playmaking and passion was on display when he was on the field facing off against the defense.

The wideout had a play in 7-on-7 where he jumped to snag a high pass and fell to the ground after completing the catch. Nabers got up off the ground and spiked the football after the play. While some interpreted him slamming the ball as frustration, the receiver explained after practice that the action was just the dawg in him barking a little bit.

Nabers said the dawg within is waking up and getting ready to charge out of its dog house. Giants fans can’t wait to see that dawg on the loose.
