There has been a constant drumbeat surrounding the New York Giants and Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love. Be that as it may, the perception of the connection may not be as omnipresent as the reality.

What the Giants do with the fifth overall selection in the 2026 NFL Draft looms large. Love has been at the forefront of the discussion because of the club's apparent infatuation with him. However, New York's new offensive coordinator, Matt Nagy, seems to be more than content with the current tailback options at his disposal.

Naturally, Nagy acknowledged that Love is a "great talent" when addressing the media during the first day of the Giants' offseason workout program. Yet, New York's play-caller also made sure to highlight the in-house backfield trio of Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary.

Nagy said the Giants are "excited about [what they] have" in Skattebo, Tracy and Singletary (h/t Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post).

Giants’ Jeremiyah Love draft buzz takes hit after Matt Nagy weighs in

It sounds like Nagy is ready to roll with the guys already on the Giants' depth chart, and rightfully so. They quietly boasted one of the league's best ground games in 2025, especially once rising second-year pro Jaxson Dart became their starting quarterback. Skattebo and Tracy thrived as a dynamic thunder-and-lightning duo until the former suffered a gruesome season-ending ankle injury, and Singletary provided veteran depth.

New York finished tied for the fourth-most rushing touchdowns (22) and ranked fifth in rushing yards per game (129.1) last year. Moreover, they were second in rushing first downs (123), eighth in yards after contact on carries (839) and 10th in success rate (51.4 percent) once Dart took over. So, as tempting as it might be to take Love, who's widely considered an elite prospect, Nagy and the Giants are seemingly aware of the circumstances.

Barring any setbacks for Skattebo, he, Tracy and Singletary are set to pick up right where they left off this past campaign. The Giants have too many other holes on the roster to spend a premium asset on bolstering an area of strength. Nevertheless, they can help their already-productive running attack by choosing an offensive lineman in the early rounds; maybe even on Day 1.
