The New York Giants tried their best to keep Dexter Lawrence on the team for the foreseeable future, but they were dealing with a star that simply didn't want to be with the organization any longer. The Giants took that situation and turned it into the 10th overall pick by trading him to the Cincinnati Bengals. Does it sting that the Giants are moving on from a legitimate difference maker in Lawrence? Of course. But he just didn't want to be on the team any longer.
Leave it to a former Dallas Cowboys player to try and kick the Giants while they are down.
During an appearance on Bleacher Reports' NFL Draft special, former Cowboy and current Green Bay Packers pass rusher Micah Parsons sat alongside Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers and decided to antagonize him and the Giants fanbase. How so? By taking shots at the Giants for trading away Lawrence.
Micah didn't hold back on the Dexter Lawrence trade 😅

"Are we really surprised about the Giants and their track record," Parsons said gleefully and giddily. "...Their track record, I don't know why they want draft picks. They're not very good with draft picks either. They just let great players go."
Giants fans can't help but roll their eyes at Micah Parsons playing the role of heel with Dexter Lawrence trade comments
Did you really expect anything less from Parsons? Even though he is no longer on the Cowboys after a contract saga resulted in both sides agreeing to a split, he still takes joy in kicking the Giants while they are down.
Parsons continued with his criticisms, saying asking who the Giants have even hit on in recent years besides Nabers, Abdul Carter, and quarterback Jaxson Dart. Parsons also decided to go for the low hanging fruit of bringing up the team letting Saquon Barkley walk to the Philadelphia Eagles years after drafting him second overall in 2018. Then, there's the recent Lawrence trade, which could very well backfire for the Giants, especially if he proves last season was a fluke.
Yes, it's no secret that the Giants have missed on players in recent years, with the 2021 and 2023 classes truly standing out. But they have hit on certain players, with the likes of Nabers, Carter, and Dart standing out. Even with hitting on certain draft picks, the Giants haven't seen too many wins. That is something the Giants are trying to fix.
They have a new head coach in John Harbaugh who has shown he can find talent and build consistent playoff contenders. This is why the Giants essentially handed him a blank check to be their new head coach. Harbaugh brought in his first draft picks with the Giants, selecting Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese, who boasts elite talent and incredible upside, and Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa, who was used with the No. 10 pick acquired from the Bengals in the Lawrence trade.
The last thing the Giants fanbase needed to hear on a night that was supposed to be a positive one for them was Parsons trying to play the role of heel.
