If there was any consolation from another late-game collapse by the New York Giants on Sunday, it's that they have a budding star in Wan'Dale Robinson.
Despite blowing another double-digit fourth quarter lead, falling to the Detroit Lions 34-27 in overtime, Robinson has remained a bright spot for a team that has now lost six straight and is 2-10 for the second straight season.
The fourth-year receiver had a career day against Detroit, going for nine catches for 156 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown on a trick play during New York's first drive of the afternoon. The former second-round draft selection now has 794 receiving yards on the year in what has become a breakout campaign for the wideout after three straight disappointing seasons to begin his NFL career.
As Robinson continues to make a name for himself as a lethal offensive weapon, interim head coach Mike Kafka has been very impressed.
Mike Kafka praises Wan'Dale Robinson's latest eye-popping game
Kafka met with reporters following Sunday's crushing loss to the Lions. Despite once again not being able to close out the game, the offensive play caller could not have been more impressed with his soon-to-be free agent receiver after another great game.
"Tough kid, battled through taking some big hits. This kid continues to just keep on coming back and fighting."Kafka said.
Robinson's road to the NFL has not been easy. After being drafted in the second round out of Kentucky in the 2022 Draft, the now 24-year-old's rookie season was cut short after tearing his ACL, coincidentally against these very Lions in their Week 11 matchup.

While he would eventually make his return the following season, Robinson wasn't as flashy and exciting as many thought he would have been. That has all since changed, as his fourth season in the NFL has been his best one yet.
If there is one thing clear about Wan'Dale Robinson moving forward, he needs to be a Giant for life. With the season he is stringing together, pairing him alongside a healthy Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo with rookie phenom Jaxson Dart throwing him the football would certainly be fun to watch next season and beyond.
He is the real deal and is perhaps one of the pieces that can help Big Blue get back to being a proud franchise.
