Jaxson Dart has only been in the NFL for a couple of months, and he will soon have his first mandatory minicamp with the New York Giants. With the Giants holding minicamp on June 17 and 18, the rookie quarterback will be focused on learning as he prepares for his first season in the NFL. With it being extremely early in his career, Dart is still largely an unknown. He’s not even expected to see the field in meaningful moments as a rookie, so it could be years before the Giants know if he’s their franchise quarterback or not.

While all of that will play out over the years, one thing about Dart’s career with the Giants has already become clear: he will forever be compared to Shedeur Sanders. Neither rookie quarterback has taken the field for an official NFL snap yet, but the two have consistently been pit against each other since the 2025 Draft. Unfortunately for both quarterbacks, there’s no sign the comparisons will stop anytime soon.

Fans are still comparing Jaxson Dart and Shedeur Sanders

With OTAs and minicamps being as public as ever, offseason practices are being analyzed like never before. Media members are sharing daily passing charts for quarterbacks, and fans are looking into them to push agendas. As a result, people are already irresponsibly jumping to conclusions and running with narratives. This is evident in the publishing of pieces with headlines like, “The beautiful pass by Jaxson Dart that justified Brian Daboll's decision to shut the door on Shedeur Sanders at the New York Giants” or ”Jaxson Dart's Terrible OTAs Left Fans in Disbelief About Skipping Shedeur Sanders.”

Both are real pieces that have been published that speak to the premature comparisons that will likely continue forever. It’s natural for players of the same position in the same draft class to be compared, as everyone wants to know if teams got the order right. However, some of those comparisons are more intense than others for a number of reasons, and the Dart-Sanders situation has already proven to be a tense one.

Prior to the draft, the two were already being compared in New York, as it was clear the Giants would be able to pick between the two of them. Of course, New York picked Dart over Sanders with the 25th pick to the surprise of many analysts and to the dismay of a lot of fans. However, Sanders ultimately slid to the fifth round, going to the Cleveland Browns at pick 144.

It was an unexpected slide for Sanders, that even Giants’ receiver Malik Nabers’ spoke out against. However, there have since been numerous reports about an infamous pre-draft meeting between Sanders and New York where things reportedly didn’t go well, playing a big role in the Browns QB sliding, and the Giants ultimately choosing Dart.

Considering Sanders’ popularity, and the fact he clearly wanted to land in New York, the Giants have become a big part of the young quarterback’s story, so Dart has as well. That unfortunately means everything Dart does will be viewed in comparison to Sanders.
