Brian Daboll has caught the ire of countless New York Giants fans, and the calls for his job are only growing louder. He's been on the hot seat for quite some time now, and fans are unhappy with his mismanagement of the quarterback situation, even though it's clear Jaxson Dart is not yet ready to be handed the keys.
But Giants fans aren't the only ones frustrated with Daboll. Four-time NBA champion Draymond Green said on his NFL podcast with Jordan Schultz that Daboll is "not a good leader" and the fact he kept his job is "ridiculous".
Draymond Green is NOT a fan of how #Giants HC Brian Daboll has handled his QB situation so far in this young season.

Big Blue has already fallen to 0-2, and it's clear that the organization reeks of instability. Daboll and Joe Schoen have seemingly hit on their 2025 draft class, but their big-ticket free agent pickups have failed to pan out. And the quarterback situation is a ticking time bomb. As long as Jaxson Dart is the presumed heir apparent, every decision Daboll makes, or avoids making, comes under scrutiny.
Draymond Green says the quiet part out loud about Brian Daboll
Through two weeks of 2025, the offense with Russell Wilson has shown promise, as the Giants lead the NFL in passing offense after Wilson threw for 450 yards in Week 2. The plan was always to let the first-round rookie sit behind Wilson, so the fact Daboll is willing to change his tune to save his job is incredibly disappointing.
The four-time NBA champion is far from an NFL expert, but his analysis holds some merit. Drafting a first-round quarterback when you know your coach and GM are on the hot seat is textbook mismanagement. This is the same fate that set back players like Caleb Williams and Baker Mayfield.
In order to thrive, young quarterbacks need stability, and lackluster weapons and a revolving door of coaches and coordinators is not the way to do that, that's precisely why Daniel Jones failed in New York, and why he's thriving in Indianapolis right now.
Daboll's mismanagement with the quarterbacks is telling, but the bigger red flag lies on defense. The Giants' defense ranks dead last in the NFL and is surrendering over 30 points per game, which is the bigger cause for concern.
At this rate, it doesn't matter who the QB1 is. The offense is the unit actually producing. Shane Bowen is one of the league's worst defensive coordinators, so unless drastic changes are made, it would be shocking to see him retained beyond this season.
Between offensive indecision, defensive struggles, and vocal criticism from both the New York media and people like Green, the former Coach of the Year's hot seat is growing even hotter. With the league's toughest schedule and a Sunday Night clash with the Chiefs on tap, an 0-3 start is the worst case scenario for his future in the Big Apple.
