New Mock Draft brings in SEC Daniel Jones replacement after Giants' SNF disaster

Yup, we all saw this coming.

Inconsistent play has haunted NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones for as long as people can remember. Prior to the Week 6 loss to the Bengals, Jones had looked strong over the past month, including his brilliant showing vs. the Seahawks in an upset win.

With him playing so well, it even opened the door to the G-Men potentially bringing him back next season instead of releasing him, which has been the expectation for quite some time. However, he regressed vs. Cincy and his first-quarter interception reminded everyone of why he's not the long-term answer for the NFC East side.

The team over at CBS Sports seems to agree. In a new NFL Mock Draft from Chris Trapasso, CBS has the Giants holding the No. 12 overall pick in 2025. With that pick, Joe Schoen and Co. will bring in LSU signal-caller Garrett Nussmeier.

NY Giants go with QB Garrett Nussmeier in new CBS Mock Draft

Checking in at 6-2, 200 pounds, there's no question that Nussmeier has a rocket for an arm. Thus far this season, the standout quarterback has thrown for 1,989 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. Those are pretty impressive numbers for sure.

How would Giants fans feel about landing him? Throughout the fall, it seems like a lot of attention for Giants Nation has gone to Carson Beck, Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward and Jalen Milroe, widely considered the top quarterback prospects for this upcoming class.

Nussmeier isn't too far behind, however, and could be a good option for Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll if they end up picking outside of the Top 10. With Jones, it's Year 6 and while he has been solid at points this year, the performance vs. Cincinnati was infuriating to watch.

He needs to be doing much more to try and save his Giants career. Right now, it feels unlikely he's going to turn things around, which will lead to Schoen bringing in his replacement next April. Things overall haven't worked out for Jones in East Rutherford and his days with the organization appear to be numbered.
