Giants’ breakout star’s postgame quote perfectly captured the devastation

Talk about bleak.

Week 2 will forever go down as the game that Wan’Dale Robinson officially became an offensive cornerstone of the New York Giants.

The 24-year-old finished the game with eight catches for 142 yards and a receiving touchdown. The receiving yards were a career high in what’s shaping up to be a career year for the fourth-year pro. Still, not even Robinson’s incredible game could get this team over the Dallas Cowboys-sized hump, as they lost an overtime thriller, 40-37.

This loss will hurt more than most. They had the game in the bag — a 48-yard Russell Wilson moonball to Malik Nabers with 52 seconds left on the clock all but sealed the win... or so we thought. In an otherworldly turn of events, the Cowboys mustered a game-tying drive to send the game into OT, eventually ending with a Big Blue loss. Fans weren’t the only ones in disbelief. And one dejected Wan’Dale Robinson postgame comment said it all.

Wan’Dale Robinson says what every Giants fan was thinking after Week 2 loss

When speaking to the media after the heartbreaking loss, the emerging star painfully shared his feelings when asked about his confidence level in the Giants winning as the game went on, saying:

"When Leek scored, I was like, 'we've got to be able to get this one.' But obviously, football is crazy," Robinson responded.

Talk about painting a bleak picture. It doesn't get more defeated than that.

The quote likely doesn’t read the way he said it. You could see the look of defeat on his face while answering. It was visibly tough for him to work through how he was feeling after they missed their opportunity. You know it’s bad when the only thing he could actually gather was “football is crazy.” But he’s not wrong — football is indeed crazy.

The loss makes it nine in a row against Dallas. Not exactly sitting on the right side of the divisional rivalry. Dak Prescott is now 14-2 against the G-Men, winning checks notes 14 games in a row, himself. It’s a nightmare.

Big Blue now sits at 0-2 with two divisional losses, which makes it next to impossible for this team to have any sort of playoff hopes. With the Kansas City Chiefs coming into town for the home opener on Sunday Night Football in Week 3, it’s another brutal matchup for a team that needs a break like a plane needs wings.

If there’s a silver lining, it might just be Robinson and his Year 4 ascension. It couldn’t come at a better time for him, entering the season in a contract year. He’s on pace for career highs in receptions (119), receiving yards (1,674), and receiving touchdowns (8). It’s very unlikely he comes close to those numbers, but still. Big things are on the way for No. 17.

It’s crazy to think Wan’Dale Robinson was entering Week 2 with an ankle issue. It sure didn’t hold him back one bit. The Giants will need another jaw-dropping performance against the Chiefs if they want any chance at win No. 1.

So yeah, football is crazy. Unfortunately for Big Blue, it’s been a little too crazy lately.
