New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has won 11 of his past 43 games. Please let that sink in. The man has lost 32 games in his last 43 at the helm. Nobody survives that much losing. No one. And unless Dabs completely turns things around โ€” and I mean completely โ€” he's out.

In the unlikely event of him succeeding, there's growing speculation about who could be next in line to head up Big Blue. It's not hyperbolic to suggest their next coaching hire is the most important of the franchise's 101 years of existence.

After burning through Ben McAdoo, Steve Spagnuolo, Pat Shurmur, Joe Judge, and likely Daboll, that's four head honchos and an interim in the span of 11 seasons. That's certainly less than ideal.

One radio show believes a perfect candidate exists, and it's one Giants fans are pretty familiar with. On the BT and Sal show on WFAN Sports Radio, Sal Licata threw his support behind former New England Patriots head coach and current UNC head coach Bill Belichick.

Giants radio pitches Bill Belichick for next Giants head coach post-Brian Daboll

His argument was he flamed out after Tom Brady retired because he didn't have the quarterback. In New York, he'd have rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart under center, and with the stars on the defense, Belichick could elevate this team to heights it hasn't reached since the early 2010s.

There's a lot to unpack there for sure.

The last time Darth Hoodie was roaming an NFL sideline, the Pats were 4-13. On his way out of Foxborough, MA, Belichick did his best impersonation of 73-going-on-13, throwing a public tantrum during his spat with owner Robert Kraft. He sat out of football for a year before joining the college ranks down at Chapel Hill.

And boy, has it been a nightmare for the disgraced GOAT. UNC is 3-5, rumors are flying about his personal life interfering with football operations, and his grudge has impacted the players negatively by ostracizing Patriots scouts, costing his own players a potential destination. So yes, it's a mess. This is the guy Licata believes will turn things around.

I'm going to hard pass on Belichick as the Giants' next head coach. He's over the hill at this point, but even if he isn't, there has to be someone out there who's better suited to give Dart everything he needs with no bags attached, and it's clear that unless Bill has everything his way, bags will always be attached.

For what it's worth, there should be a handful of other head coaching options the Giants could explore. Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury, Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, and even Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin are just a handful they should consider over Belichick.

If the Giantsโ€™ answer to years of hiring the wrong guy is a has-been trying to fix his own mess in the ACC, good luck.
