It's becoming clearer by the sound byte that the New York Giants have something special in Cam Skattebo.
After being selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Skatt not only proved to be one of the ultimate steals of the draft, but a fan favorite across New York. In eight games, the former Arizona State star rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns while also racking up 207 receiving yards on 24 catches with two scores.
The 24-year-old's promising rookie season was cut short when he suffered a gruesome dislocated ankle injury during last year's Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Skattebo, however, has been able to progress very nicely throughout his rehab and is expected to be ready by the start of training camp.
With the Giants and their fans hoping Skattebo can build off his strong rookie season and play even better, these latest comments from the young running back are certainly worth taking notice of.
Cam Skattebo wanting to become Giants' all-time rushing leader is awesome
During an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show on Wednesday, Skattebo not only said he wants to be remembered as a potential Hall of Fame running back, but also as the best running back in Giants' history:
"My goal is to be a Hall of Famer obvoiusly that's the goal of anybody that plays at a professional level, but I want to be remembered as the best running back in the Giants' history. I wanna be somebody that when I come back to this city or if I go back to the stadium that the whole place is roaring because they remember who I am."
Those are certainly bold words from Skatt, considering some of the great running backs who have come through East Rutherford. From Tiki Barber, Rodney Hampton, Ottis Anderson, Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw, and most recently Saquon Barkley, that’s quite a group Skattebo is trying to surpass.
But ever since Skattebo arrived, Giants fans have embraced his unique and fun personality, and he’s embraced them back, which is certainly a motivational spark. So if there are any doubts that Cam Skattebo can become a Giants legend, I’d second-guess those.
