Giants fans cackle as Cowboys walk right into a George Pickens agent mess

This is why you don’t say the quiet part out loud, Jerry.

Jerry Jones has to be feeling high and mighty right about now. The Dallas Cowboys just pulled off a blockbuster trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers for George Pickens, which now pairs him alongside CeeDee Lamb—a duo the New York Giants will have to navigate. But it's not all sunshine and rainbows in Jerry's World. Jones might have landed the wide receiver he’s been chasing for months, but he also walked headfirst into a mess of his own making.

Pickens is now a Cowboy, which on the surface gives Dallas a dynamic 1-2 punch alongside Lamb. But Pickens doesn’t come alone. He brings a whole lot of attitude, a contract year, and an agent that Jones once said—out loud—he didn’t even know by name.

That agent? David Mulugheta. The same guy representing Micah Parsons. The same guy Jones just tried to cut out of extension talks entirely. Yeah, this could get weird fast for the ever-erratic owner/general manager.

Giants fans can only laugh at Jerry Jones' comments coming back to haunt him

Back in March, Jones told reporters he’d been handling Parsons’ contract conversations directly, not through Mulugheta. “I don’t know his name,” Jones said at the league meetings, brushing off the agent entirely. Parsons clapped back on social media, making it clear that no deal would get done without Mulugheta’s involvement. “There will be no backdoors in this contract negotiation,” Parsons wrote.

To recap, not only did Jones admit to not knowing his name, but he also admitted to breaking NFLPA protocol by negotiating Parsons' contract without an agent present. You cannot make this stuff up.

Fast-forward a few weeks, and now Mulugheta isn’t just part of the Cowboys’ orbit... he’s suddenly more important than ever.

With Pickens heading into a contract year, Dallas isn’t going to give up a 2026 third and 2027 fifth without expecting an extension at some point. Which means Jerry will need to go through... you guessed it: Mulugheta. This isn’t just about Micah anymore. It’s about both players, both contracts, and one very high-powered agent who now holds serious leverage in Dallas.

Jones might be used to doing things his own way, but this one’s coming back around to bite him. Fast. If he wants to keep Parsons long-term and avoid Pickens becoming a one-year rental, he’ll need to sit down at the table with the guy he tried to sidestep.

Oh, what Giants fans would do to be at the table for those negotiations. Jerry would be wise to tread lightly here, but knowing Jones, there’s zero chance of that. If Jerry didn’t know his name then, he’ll surely know soon enough.
