Giants fans can only laugh at Cowboys' latest plan to replace Micah Parsons

The New York Giants have very few things they can use to laugh at the Dallas Cowboys, but they can get a few hearty laughs in at their NFC East rival after Jerry Jones pulled off the infamous Micah Parsons trade.

With the Cowboys gifting Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts the most time to throw in the league during their Week 1 loss, Jones seems to have finally gotten the memo that his team's pass rush is poor. It looks like the Cowboys' overlord is now trying desperately to bring in any lineman with name recognition before his matchup against Brian Daboll and the Giants.

Josina Anderson and others connected around the NFL have reported that the Cowboys are hosting free agent pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney for a visit, though no deal is imminent right now.

If only the Cowboys had a player who could get pressure off the edge, preferably one who does it so effectively that he stands out as perhaps the most valuable defensive asset in the entire league. Alas, no such player exists on that Dallas roster at the moment. Green Bay has one, I hear!

Since Jones is obsessed with trying to stop the run, adding Clowney might actually help in that regard, as the former No. 1 overall pick and three-time Pro Bowler has long been considered one of the best edge-setting defensive ends in the game. Piling up the sacks isn't his game, as he has never tallied 10 sacks in a single season.

Clowney, fresh off a 5.5 sack season with his hometown Carolina Panthers, shouldn't be trusted to have a transformative effect on a team's defensive line at this point in his career. He is a veteran role player, and if Dallas is expecting anything more than that, they are simply being foolish.

The Giants will get their first look at Dallas' Parsons-less defensive line in their Week 2 matchup. While the Andrew Thomas injury has the Giants' offensive line looking suspect, the lack of depth on Dallas' defensive line could help mitigate that issue and make a win much more likely.

The Cowboys are going to win some games this year, but the pure comedy that has come as a result of the Parsons trade and the subsequent mad dash to find replacements for him has been nothing short of hilarious for a Giants fanbase that has been fairly down in the dumps lately.
