Giants fans torch baffling Dexter Lawrence trade proposal from PFF

The heart and soul of Big Blue isn't going anywhere despite recent wishcasting.

We all have dreams, though some of them are merely that: dreams. However, Pro Football Focus (PFF) got carried away by including New York Giants star defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence II in their 10 "fairytale" trades.

In PFF's ideal world, Lawrence is sent from New York to the Baltimore Ravens before the league's Nov. 4 deadline to strike a deal. That sounds great, but Giants supporters made it quite clear they don't envision this happening ... now or ever.

Big Blue Nation was quick to emphatically reject the idea of Lawrence representing the Ravens or any organization other than the Giants under any circumstances. Even if it was just a fun idea and deemed "rather unlikely" to preface, the love for "Sexy Dexy" in the Big Apple is apparent.

Giants fans firmly reject PFF's proposed Dexter Lawrence-Ravens blockbuster trade

"No," one user said on X (formerly known as Twitter) in response to a Giants fan account that publicized the hypothetical Lawrence-Baltimore transaction. "Yeah, for an arm, leg, chest, back, neck, head and two first-round picks," another wrote.

Paradoxically, those were some gentler replies that effectively told PFF "up yours" for proposing rerouting Lawrence to Baltimore, or anywhere, for that matter. Despite his lack of production in 2025, those who follow the team closely know what he means to the Giants on and off the field.

This is the same player who has earned three consecutive Pro Bowl nods and two All-Pro selections from 2022 to 2024. Moreover, Lawrence has made his desire to be with the squad that drafted him forever known amid contract extension talks in 2023. He's a Giants lifer, and nothing will change that.

PFF's reasoning for Lawrence taking his talents to Baltimore also works as a great counterargument for New York to keep him. His presence along one of football's "most disruptive" defensive fronts is vital and indispensable. He's been the "third-most-valuable defensive lineman over the last three years," per the sports analytics platform's Wins Above Replacement data; why move him?

Lawrence recently caught flak from retired franchise legend Carl Banks for his statistical shortcomings this season. Nevertheless, the heart and soul of New York's current group has demonstrably built up significant goodwill with Giants loyalists across six-plus campaigns (and counting).

Some members of the New York faithful have (rightfully) directed their frustration with Lawrence and the club's ongoing struggles toward much-maligned defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. That feels like a more proper way of channeling frustration surrounding the Giants than a mock swap with the Ravens.
