For obvious reasons, the New York Giants aren't key players in the bidding war for Bengals star pass-rusher Trey Hendrickson. However, general manager Joe Schoen is being plenty aggressive on the receiver market in hopes of finding Jaxson Dart a new WR1 while Malik Nabers is sidelined.

Unfortunately for Giants fans, Big Blue might have to prepare to face the four-time Pro Bowler twice per season. On Thursday afternoon, NFL insider Tony Pauline reported that both the Cowboys and Eagles are among the several teams in pursuit of Hendrickson.

The 30-year-old won the Deacon Jones Award for leading the NFL with 17.5 sacks in 2024, and would make an instant impact for an Eagles team that boasts one of the worst pass-rushing units in the NFL.

Trey Hendrickson landing in Philadelphia would be a nightmare scenario for Giants fans

Hendrickson is set to be a free agent this offseason and is in pursuit of a long-term extension after Cincinnati has been unwilling to pay him what he deserves. They controversially opted to pay both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins over him, and after missing Week 7, it's looking like his days as a Bengal are numbered.

Hendrickson's contract dispute with the team lasted for nearly two years, and his frustrations with contract negotiations grew so strong that his offseason holdout lasted until the end of July. Still, no progress has been made, so Bengals GM Duke Tobin could begin to advance trade negotiations before the deadline.

The Eagles, Cowboys, Colts, and 49ers are the four teams Pauline named as the frontrunners for Hendrickson, but the Birds might be leading the pack. Through six games, Philadelphia's pass-rush has mustered just nine sacks, which is tied for seventh-worst in football.

Hendrickson's main defect comes as a run-stopper, but he remains one of the best pure pass-rushers in the modern NFL. On an Eagles team that has both Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter manning the middle of their defensive line, a potential move would fortify a pass-rush that has struggled since leading the NFL in sacks back in 2022.

Howie Roseman always knows how to swing deals of this magnitude, and the need is clear with Haason Reddick and Byce Huff now in Tampa Bay and San Francisco, respectively.

While Dart and Cam Skattebo are fresh off the best games of their NFL careers against the Eagles, the offensive line remains very much a work in progress. Fans want to savor the victory over their arch-rivals while they still can, but a Hendrickson trade could be exactly what they need to get revenge on the G-Men in Week 8.
