The New York Giants may finally have something they have long been waiting for, and that is a franchise quarterback.
After six seasons of mediocrity with Daniel Jones at the helm, Jaxson Dart looks to be the real deal for New York, even though they're coming off a dismal 4-13 season, with injuries and late-game collapses as the prime factors for another 10-plus-loss season. But with John Harbaugh (who is a proven winner) now the new leading man for the Giants, times may be changing in the Meadowlands.
Could the hiring of Harbaugh also result in Big Blue's young quarterback taking a massive step in year two in the NFL? It depends on who you ask, but Giants fans sure hope so.
Jaxson Dart predicted to break out in sophomore season for the NY Giants
In an article for NFL.com, Nick Shook named six quarterbacks primed to take massive leaps in 2026, with Dart being one of them... provided he works on protecting himself when he runs the football after it became a notable problem this past season, of course:
"Dart will need to improve when it comes to his decision-making as a passer, but much of his development will depend on whom John Harbaugh tabs as his offensive coordinator," Shook wrote. "If Dart lands an experienced play-caller with a knack for fitting his system to his quarterback, a beautiful product could emerge, especially once he gets Cam Skattebo and Malik Nabers back from injury."

Considering that Dart lost his No. 1 wide receiver in Malik Nabers for the season to a torn ACL back in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, and soon after, fellow rookie, running back Cam Skattebo, against the Philadelphia Eagles to a gruesome ankle injury in Week 8, the 22-year-old could be in for a massive second season in the NFL if he gets those pieces back at full strength.
Even after not having a true No. 1 wideout for most of the season and losing a reliable safety blanket in the backfield with Skattebo, Dart still managed to pass for over 2,200 yards with 15 touchdown passes as well as nine rushing scores to just five picks.
Take this bold prediction seriously, Giants fans; Jaxson Dart could change the tide for the New York Football Giants in just his second season as a pro.
