The New York Giants are ushering in a new era under head coach John Harbaugh. He was brought in this offseason to maximize the club's promising core, more specifically for fantasy football managers' sake, a cast of young playmakers.

What we can expect from the Giants' offense this season is, well, the unexpected. There are definitely some intriguing pieces to work with. They have a wide range of outcomes and no shortage of questions, however.

Can Harbaugh and a remade coaching staff unlock second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart and a talented skill position group? How ready are two of the headliners, star wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo, coming off major injuries? Can New York support two tight ends, or is there only room for one of Isaiah Likely or Theo Johnson?

Time will tell, though training camp and the preseason will inform us as to where things stand as the G-Men enter the upcoming campaign. There's going to be copious amounts of news to sort through. Consider this a living, breathing personal guide to their progress after the summer break.

Note: This story will be updated regularly throughout the New York Giants' training camp and preseason.

Latest fantasy football updates for the Giants: News, injuries and position battles camp battles with a fantasy impact

Malik Nabers is on track to play Week 1 -- 8/9

ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported that barring any setbacks, Nabers is leaning towards playing in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys. Nabers has participated in nine of the 10 practices thus far, while running, cutting, and landing on his knee.

Isaiah Likely remains one of Jaxson Dart's favorite targets -- 8/8

Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com reported that the connection between Likely and Dart has been evident. The two have linked up consistently throughout the summer, and they kept it going. Likely reeled in a 50-50 ball over Deonte Banks in coverage, showcasing that Dart will still target Likely when the defender is right there.

Dan Duggan of The Athletic says Malachi Fields is making 'early claim' for Giants' WR2 gig -- 8/7

Listed at 6-foot-4, 222 pounds, Fields' size has been a factor, particularly downfield. He knows how to use his frame, and it's putting him in a position to start opposite No. 1 target Malik Nabers.

Whether the Giants' offense can support two fantasy-viable receivers in addition to tight end Isaiah Likely and running back Cam Skattebo remains to be seen. Fields certainly offers the highest ceiling among his positional competitors, including wideouts Calvin Austin III, Odell Beckham Jr. and Darnell Mooney.

Odell Beckham Jr. 'looks like he still has juice' -- 8/7

Turning 34 in November, Beckham isn't showing his age just yet; he's staving off Father Time — for now (h/t Dan Duggan of The Athletic).

Beckham understands nothing will be handed to him and that he'll have to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. The three-time Pro Bowler is doing his part to avoid getting cut and must keep the momentum going.

Malik Nabers set to ramp up? -- 8/7

New York has exercised caution to date, but "it wouldn't be a surprise" if Nabers participates in live team drills (h/t The Athletic's Dan Duggan).

Slow but surely, fantasy managers are getting the validation they need to spend a premium selection on Nabers, the consensus WR13 in point-per-reception (PPR) formats. Duggan stressed that this is an "important checkpoint in his comeback," so stay tuned.

Calvin Austin III remains Giants' 'top slot option' despite slow camp -- 8/7

For whatever reason(s), Austin's efforts in the spring haven't translated to the summer. He's still the squad's best inside target, though, as Dan Duggan of The Athletic expressed.

Don't expect the G-Men to feature their slot man as they did with Wan'Dale Robinson, who took his talents to the Tennessee Titans in March. Austin "will have a role" nonetheless, at least based on what Duggan has seen.

Malachi Fields keeps on impressing in camp -- 8/3

Fields continues working with the first-team offense and shows the skill set to run a full route tree. In the first padded practice, he made grabs on all three levels, which included bringing in a pass on a double move down the sideline with Paulson Adebo in coverage. His blocking ability also has caught the staff's attention, per Stapleton. If he continues to progress this way, he'll have a role in the offense from day 1.

Malik Nabers continues to progress in his development -- 8/3

During Monday's practice, Nabers took part in the team's offense install and walkthrough with the first team. He caught some passes from Jaxson Dart and looked comfortable while doing so. He continues to take steps in his development, per Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.

Cam Skattebo has 'clear' RB1 edge -- 8/2

Skat has been the Giants' "top back," at least from Connor Hughes of SNY's vantage point. Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary have been the "preferred options in passing situations," for whatever that's worth.

All signs continue pointing toward New York riding Skattebo until the wheels fall off. He's slated for bell-cow usage despite having a pair of capable understudies, making him a high-upside RB2 with a serviceable floor.

Isaiah Likely's arrow keeps on climbing up -- 8/2

The Giants are making sure to feature Likely all across the field. He and Dart have already built a nice rapport, where he seems to be the quarterback's safety blanket. SNY's Connor Hughes believes that Likely "appears to be the No. 2 option behind Nabers."

Malik Nabers sets the record straight -- 7/30

It was reported in May that Nabers underwent a follow-up knee procedure "multiple weeks ago" after initially getting surgery last October. The 23-year-old openly said the timeline is inaccurate and that he has been running routes for "weeks," according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.

While Nabers didn't get into specifics, this is a fascinating and incredibly notable development that contextualizes his level of activity in camp thus far. The 2024 No. 6 overall pick appears to be further along in the recovery process than we've been led to believe. At this rate, it won't be shocking to see him vault into the WR1 ranks in due course.

Cam Skattebo looks no worse for wear -- 7/30

With so much of the discussion centered around Nabers, it went a bit under the radar that Skattebo practiced in full to start camp. Skatt "looks 100 percent" to The Record's Art Stapleton, and the G-Men are operating as such.

There is a clear desire to run the football early and often in East Rutherford, with Skattebo as the focal point. He's "definitely the guy" and figures to reclaim workhorse duties almost, if not immediately.

Dan Duggan of The Athletic suggests Giants could bring in another RB -- 7/29

Running back is a "sneaky position to watch for an addition before the opener," Duggan wrote. He cited the Giants' interest in adding a "premier" player, namely rookie Jeremiyah Love, this offseason.

Veteran free agent Najee Harris was brought up as a potential target, as was making a trade. Either way, adding another mouth to feed into the mix would certainly complicate matters for second-year back Cam Skattebo (and backup Tyrone Tracy Jr.).

Malik Nabers participates on Day 1 -- 7/29

Nabers did individual drills and was part of the full-offense work without defense at "full speed," per SNY's Connor Hughes. The LSU product was unsurprisingly deliberate with his movement while recovering from a complicated knee issue.

For the most part, it's been months of one worrisome update following another, but a Week 1 return for Nabers is beginning to feel plausible. Expect his average draft position (ADP) to skyrocket as long as the positive vibes continue.

Odell Beckham Jr. makes it known that he's back -- 7/29

Beckham representing Big Blue in 2026 is still surreal. The fact that he "looks good," via SNY's Connor Hughes, is just icing on the cake for nostalgic fans.

It's hard to take Beckham seriously as anything more than a dart throw until proven otherwise, but hey, crazier things have happened. How the Giants' pass-catching pecking order behind Nabers, or until he's back, shakes out is an open competition.

Malachi Fields makes highlight catch on first day at the office -- 7/29

Fields reeled in an over-the-middle reception from backup gunslinger Jameis Winston in a two-minute drill (h/t SNY's Connor Hughes). The play helped put undrafted rookie kicker Dominic Zvada in range to kick a game-winning field goal.

How quickly Fields can emerge bears monitoring, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Nabers. New York desperately needs at least one wideout to step up.

Giants GM Joe Schoen delivers encouraging Cam Skattebo news -- 7/29

Giants general manager Joe Schoen said Skattebo is "good to go," via Dan Salomone of the team's official website. The bruiser is rehabbing from a dislocated right ankle, fractured fibula and ruptured deltoid ligament (and still doing backflips), so this is great to hear.

Skattebo's availability doesn't seem to be in doubt, yet his outlook has a direct impact on backfield mate Tyrone Tracy Jr. The latter has quietly posted back-to-back 1,000-plus scrimmage-yard seasons to begin his NFL career and could be an opportunity away from a true breakout.
