Michael Scott once posed one of the most philosophical questions in sitcom television history while trying to poach a competing paper salesman, asking him: "Do you want your life to be better...or to be worse or to stay the same?"
While the New York Giants aren't in the paper business, it's a question the team should ask itself. There's only one obvious answer -- let's get better.
Big Blue's wide receiver room has had one hell of an overhaul this offseason. Between Darnell Mooney, Odell Beckham Jr., Malachi Fields, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Calvin Austin III, and Braxton Berrios, the group looks totally different from last year's underwhelming unit. Even so, there's nothing set in stone about it, making the wideout battle one of the most entertaining training camp battles in recent memory.
But what if there’s still a name sitting on the market who could come in and compete for a roster spot right away? Would it not make sense for the G-Men to do everything they can to field the most talented roster come September?
All I'm saying is six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen is just waiting for New York to give him a call and give him a chance to fight it out with the other thousand receivers on the team at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

Why not give the 34-year-old a call to see what he has left in the tank? At worst, Allen wouldn't come with a guaranteed starting role or a major financial commitment.
Instead, he'd be competing for a backend spot right alongside Smith-Schuster, Berrios, and the other bubble guys scrapping for those final receiver slots. If a six-time Pro Bowler is willing to lace 'em up and earn his keep on a team-friendly deal, it costs the Giants virtually nothing to take a flyer.
It turns out I'm not the only one who sees the fit. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently included the Giants as a logical landing spot for the wideout in his latest free agency breakdown. It's not every day that a 12,051-yard, 70-touchdown fringe Hall of Fame chain-mover is available this late in the offseason, but that's the opportunity staring Big Blue in the face.
The Giants don't necessarily need Allen, but with Malik Nabers' ACL recovery timeline still very much up in the air, adding a reliable weapon to Jaxson Dart's arsenal couldn't possibly be the worst idea in the world. The 6-foot-2, 211-pound receiver isn't the Pro Bowl talent he was a couple of years ago, but he still managed to put up 777 receiving yards and four scores on 81 receptions just last season.
There's still some juice there.
New York is doing a lot of finger-crossing that Leek comes back and is himself in Week 1. Are we actually going to feel comfortable with Darius Slayton as WR2 with some combination of Mooney, Austin, Fields, or Smith-Schuster at WR3? I know I wouldn't.
That’s exactly why bringing Allen to West Virginia feels like such an easy call.
