Memphis offensive tackle Travis Burke will be putting on his blue suede shoes and boarding a plane to the Meadowlands. He’ll touch down in North Jersey for a pre-draft top-30 visit in April. I can hear the music now: I was walking in East Rutherford...
And when he gets there, it won’t take long for him to stand out. The kid is enormous. At 6-foot-9 and around 325 pounds, Burke looks more like someone Memphis should’ve thrown in the paint during March Madness than a tackle prospect heading to the NFL. Instead, he’s been learning under a familiar name Giants fans are super familiar with, with two-time Super Bowl champion David Diehl helping mold his game down in Tennessee as the assistant offensive line coach for the Tigers.
In a league where it’s not always what you know, but who you know, that connection could help him hear his name called on draft night. Draft guru Justin Melo reported that the G-Men will be bringing in the statuesque tackle for a visit next month:

Burke started 11 games for the Tigers this past season. He also participated at the NFL Combine.

So what's the Diehl? Well, Burke is probably exactly what you’d expect from someone his size. He utilizes his length well to make quick contact with defenders, instantly grabbing them in his clutches. There’s some real pop at the point of attack, and when he has a chance to finish his blocks, he goes looking for it. His 84.5 overall Pro Football Focus grade (11th out of 632 eligible players) suggests he's more than just a piece of meat.
There are some limitations. The movement isn’t always graceful... or smooth, and the speed and quickness in the NFL will be a problem. The G-Men won't ask Burke to live out on an island against the best pass rushers right away, and there are reps where he labors getting out of his stance. But that’s just kinda how things go with guys his size.
As for Big Blue, the offensive line is in a weird spot. The starting tackle positions are locked in with Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor back, but the interior still needs help. Aaron Stinnie is penciled in at right guard, with Evan Neal and Joshua Ezeudu somehow back in the mix. It’s a lot of “we’ll see” for a team that’s trying to figure out what it has in franchise quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Bringing Burke in on a visit makes sense, especially with the Diehl connection already there. At his impressive size, he might even be able to play tackle and guard at the same time, which could save them the trouble of having to find another starting guard again. Could be fun.
