New York Giants fans are still reeling from Sunday’s 40-37 Week 2 crushing overtime thriller against the Dallas Cowboys — talk about a roller coaster of emotions. But another loss might already be on the horizon — and this one won’t show up in the win/loss column.

ESPN's Adam Schefter dropped back-to-back bombs Monday morning: Joe Burrow needs toe surgery and will miss at least three months. And the Bengals have already started “calling around” looking for quarterback help. So yeah, here we go.

Enter Jameis Winston... or maybe, exit Jameis Winston.

Joe Burrow’s injury might force Giants into a tough Jameis Winston decision

Let’s be clear: the idea of losing Jameis Winston isn’t exactly ideal. He’s been the perfect locker room presence, a veteran who’s taken his emergency QB3 role like only Famous Jameis could. No complaints. No drama. Just positivity and charisma.

But if the Bengals actually come calling with a real offer, can GM Joe Schoen really justify turning it down for a guy who’s been inactive for two straight weeks? It'd certainly be a gut-punch — no one brings the energy like Jameis. But it might be worth begrudgingly picking up the phone.

But, this might be the most Winston's been in demand since he was winning games with the Saints back in 2021 (5-2 as a starter). That’s just how it goes when a playoff-caliber team like Cincy suddenly needs an emergency QB option, and Winston just happens to be one of the few experienced passers completely buried on his team's depth chart.

It’s all kind of weird. Giants fans aren’t panicking about Winston having to play in a game. They’re panicking about potentially losing him altogether. The same guy who went 2-5 last year, throwing 13 TDs and 12 picks — as goes the Jameis Winston experience — is somehow now the knight in shining armor who might just save the Bengals’ season? I guess. But let's hope they turn elsewhere. Kirk Cousins, maybe?

If Cincinnati sees value where New York doesn’t, this could already be the end of Jameis Winston in Giants blue before it ever began. And with how things have already been going through two weeks, no one should be surprised if Big Blue loses once again — this time via trade.
